July 18, 2011 - Monsoon kicked off with a big Haboob and big storms and lots of rain. It was pretty short lived though. We haven’t had any rain since...maybe a few sprinkles, but not much. Tonight we had another really big Haboob, but the storm itself missed us. We got lots of sand, but no rain.
July 10, 2011 - Well, now that the big storm is passed and we have power back...the final solid divider wall in the barn is complete! Now the mares who got a bit wet during the last storm will be able to come in the barn and stay dry next time. The wall itself was completed on the 3rd, but I didn’t get the mats in until now.

July 5, 2011 - Monsoon is really starting strong this year. I was able to grab some photos while enjoying watching the storm from the barn. Didn’t pay to be in the house...we lost power before the storm even hit!

June 25, 2011 - We chose to stay home from the Blue Ribbon Show today. Although the show management has announced that the covered arenas and misting systems will be used, we travel 1-½ hours each direction to the show. I don’t feel comfortable putting the horses through that in 115 degree heat, plus we really just can’t afford it right now. Even with the heat warnings, work in the barn must continue. The materials have been sitting here awhile so we are finally working on getting the last solid wall installed in the barn. Our goal is to have that completed before the first Monsoon storms hit so that we can bring the mares in during any storms.
June 1, 2011 - Our show schedule has been changed a bit due to the recent EHV-1 outbreak. We feel fortunate that none of our horses have been off of the property since the April 16th Scholarship Show. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who are directly being affected by this terrible disease.
May 15, 2011 - It’s official...Brittany and Louie have state qualified for the AQHA Youth World Show! They will be showing in Youth Geldings 3 & over, Showmanship, Hunter Under Saddle, Huntseat Equitation, & Western Pleasure. We know that with our recent hardships this show will be a challenge for us to be able to attend, but it is a dream of Brittany’s and an opportunity that she may never have again. We are going to do everything we can to make this happen for her.
February 20, 2011 - BLUE RIBBON HORSE SHOW YEAR END AWARDS BANQUET
Everyone had a great time at the awards banquet. Brittany and Grandma both won some great awards. Brittany won a Blue Ribbon Tack show bridle for Reserve Champion All-Around and a Blue Ribbon Tack show halter and lead as a combined award for Champion Western 13-18 and Reserve Champion English Novice 15 & under.

The first Blue Ribbon Show of the year was a big success...

I’m going to try to keep up with the website a little better this year. We will call this one of my New Year’s Resolutions!

We attended the AzQHA banquet on Friday night. It was a lot of fun, and Brittany came home with lots of great awards.

We didn’t go to the National Livestock Show this year. It was on Saturday, and we just weren’t ready. Louie really got quite the winter coat this year, so today we decided to body clip him. He will be all ready for the first Blue Ribbon show of the year which is on next Sunday.

Part of Grandma’s Christmas present was for us to build a fence for her. So, we had a great time spending a couple of weekends at her house, and the fence turned out great.
Solomiia is 4 months old this weekend, so I’d like to include a new photo of her too.
